T-SPOT.TB immunological test for tuberculosis diagnosis is a blood test, also known as "Interferon Gamma Release Assay" (IGRA), a test for diagnosing infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF THE T-SPOT.TB TEST METHODOLOGY?
T-SPOT.TB testing is performed "in vitro". It detects the process of gamma-interferon production by T-lymphocytes when they encounter ESAT6 and CFP-10 proteins of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The presence of the disease is detected by the number of T-cells responding to the presence of antigens corresponding to the tuberculosis bacillus.
